How it works
Catalogue the exact pressing
Scan the barcode and Groovv pulls the pressing from Discogs: year, label, catalogue number, country. Older records without a barcode can be identified with the AI cover scan or found by search. An insurer needs the specific pressing you own, not just the album, and that is what gets recorded.
Grade it and photograph it
Use the Grading Assistant to log media and sleeve condition on the Goldmine scale. Add condition photos for anything valuable or unusual: the hairline scratch, the ring wear, the hype sticker that proves the pressing. Every grade is timestamped, so the report can show grading history.
Generate the report
Confirm the currency you want values shown in and the email address the report should go to. Groovv builds the PDF (view sample here) from your current catalogue, converting Discogs sales data at that day's exchange rate and stating both in the methodology.
Download it and file it
You get a secure download link by email, and the report sits in My Reports for twelve months. Send it to your insurer, keep a copy with your policy documents, and regenerate it once a year or after a big haul.
What is in the report
Built to read like a schedule of assets, not an app export. A dark branded cover, a plain white interior and nothing an underwriter has to squint at.
Itemised schedule
Every record in one table, sorted by estimated value: artist, title, pressing, media and sleeve grade, estimated value, purchase price and the date it was added.
Goldmine condition grades
Media and sleeve grades on the standard collectors and dealers already use, with a grading key on the methodology page so the reader does not need to know it.
Estimated values from real sales
Each estimate comes from Discogs marketplace sales for that specific pressing, adjusted for your media grade and converted to your currency at a stated rate on a stated date. Records with no market data are listed but excluded from the total.
High-value detail pages
Your most valuable records get their own entries with the cover, full pressing details, country, purchase price and grading history.
Photo appendix
Condition photos grouped by record, each dated and captioned, so a scratch or a seam split is on record before a claim ever happens.
Methodology and limitations
The report explains how values were reached and what they are not: estimates from market data, graded by the owner, not a professional opinion of value. Insurers prefer that honesty to a number with no basis.
Pro adds grading history with photos and notes, CSV export and the value-over-time chart. None of it is required to generate a report.

What is included in the Collection Report?
The one-off PDF includes a cover, a methodology page, an itemised schedule of every record with pressing details, Goldmine media and sleeve grades and estimated values, detail pages for your highest-value records, a photo appendix of your condition photos, and a limitations page. Values are shown in the currency you choose, with the exchange rate and date stated.
Do I need a Pro subscription for the report?
No. The Collection Report is a one-off purchase available to every Groovv user, and it is included at no extra cost with Lifetime. Pro adds related tools such as grading history with photos and notes, CSV export and the value-over-time chart, but none of them are required to generate the report.
Are the estimated values accepted by insurers?
Every insurer sets its own evidence requirements, so check with yours. The report gives them a documented, itemised baseline built from real Discogs sales for each pressing, adjusted for condition. For exceptionally rare or valuable records, some insurers ask for an independent valuation from a specialist dealer, and the report is a useful starting point for that conversation.
Is the report a professional opinion of value?
No. The values are estimates derived from marketplace sales data, and condition is assessed by you, the owner. The report says so on its limitations page. That is the kind of documentation most home contents policies ask for; it is not a substitute for a professional valuation where one is required.
How current are the values?
The report is a snapshot of your collection on the day you generate it. Estimates refresh automatically in the app, and the report states the snapshot date and the exchange rate used. Regenerate it once a year, or after you add anything significant, so your documentation keeps pace with the market and with your collection.
Are my condition photos private?
Yes. Photos are stored privately, stripped of location and device metadata on upload, and only appear in reports you generate. Each download link is unique to your report.
How long can I access a report?
Each report stays in My Reports for twelve months from the day it was generated. Download it when it arrives and keep a copy with your policy documents. You can generate a new one whenever your collection changes.
