The Directory

Meet other collectors

Groovv opens onto a directory of public collectors - a curated Featured row, then collectors sorted by collection size. Open anyone and their records are right there, as a clean grid or the signature Crate Flick view, so flipping through someone's crate feels like flipping through the real thing.

Every collector gets a profile: avatar, username, a short bio, member-since, record count, and their followers. Follow the ones you rate and you build a network of collectors whose taste you trust. Album art drives a subtle glow on each profile, and scarce pressings wear a gold Rare chip so the gems stand out at a glance.

The Hero Feature

Are you taste twins?

Taste Match is how Groovv measures the overlap between two collections. When you and another collector own some of the same records, Groovv works out how aligned your taste is - by genre and era - and shows it as a taste-match %.

A label comes with the number. Tap the taste-match pill on any profile to open the Taste Match sheet: your headline %, your label, and how many records, and how many deep cuts, you share.

The %, the label, and your shared counts are free, enough to feel the spark. Pro opens it up: the records you both own, your Rarest shared, and Records to dig.

Discovery

Your next record, from a real crate

Records to dig turns a match into a find. It is a personalised list of records a like-minded collector owns and you do not, ranked by how much you collect in those genres.

Discovery that comes from a real collection, not an opaque algorithm. The closer your taste, the better the picks. Records to dig is part of Pro.

Spot the gems in any crate

Groovv flags the scarce pressings, deep cuts, with a gold Rare chip, judged from Discogs worldwide-owner data. It is an instant read on which records in a crate are hard to find.

When you match with someone, Groovv surfaces your Rarest shared: the scarcest pressing you both own. "Only 740 collectors worldwide own this" turns an overlap into a find. Rarest shared is part of Pro.

Trust

Private by default.
You choose what is shared.

You are invisible on Groovv until you decide otherwise. Nobody is exposed automatically, going public is a deliberate, opt-in choice.

Private

The default. Not discoverable.

Followers-only

People can find you. Your collection unlocks when they follow.

Public

Listed in the directory for anyone to browse.

You decide what appears, whether your estimated value and Listening Stats show at all. A private or blocked profile looks exactly like "not found", so nothing leaks. Block and report are built in.

Going public in the app is separate from your public web share page. They are two independent switches, each under your control.

Frequently asked questions

Is Groovv a social network?

Not in the usual sense. There is no feed, no posts, no likes, and no direct messages. The social layer is about finding collectors and discovering records through real collection overlap, not scrolling a timeline.

Do I have to make my collection public?

No. Every collector is private by default and stays invisible until they choose to go public. You control your visibility and exactly what is shown.

What is Taste Match?

Taste Match measures how much two collections overlap, by genre and era, and shows it as a taste-match percentage with a label: Taste twins, Kindred crates, or Some overlap.

What is free and what needs Pro?

Free gives you the social graph and the taste-match percentage with your shared counts. Pro unlocks the records you share, your Rarest shared pressing, and Records to dig.

How do I find other collectors?

Browse the Collectors directory in the Search tab, or search by username or display name. New collectors get suggestions to follow.

Can other people see what my collection is worth?

Only if you choose to share it. Estimated value and Listening Stats stay off unless you turn them on.

Is my in-app profile the same as my web share link?

No, they are independent. Your public web share page and your in-app public profile are separate switches you control individually.

Can I block someone?

Yes. Block and report are built in, and a blocked or private profile is indistinguishable from not found.
